Lambert named United Way executive director

The United Way of Coastal Carolina has named Savannah Lambert as its new executive director as the nonprofit works to usher in a new era.

Lambert comes from the United Way of Wayne County, where she most recently worked as a resource development director, bringing with her extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, relationship-building and community engagement.

Lambert’s background in strengthening donor relationships and developing impactful initiatives positions her to help lead the United Way of Coastal Carolina into its next chapter of service, said Tony Norwood, United Way of Coastal Carolina board chair.

Lambert succeeds Bob Gragson, the interim executive director for the past year, who is set to retire.

“Bob stepped into an important role during a critical time and provided stability, guidance and unwavering support for our organization,” Norwood said. “We are incredibly grateful for the dedication he has shown to United Way of Coastal Carolina and the communities we serve.

“His leadership helped position us for this exciting next chapter and we wish him and his wife all the best as they begin this new season together.”

As the United Way of Coastal Carolina moves forward, the organization is entering a transformative period focused on re-establishing itself as a leading nonprofit force throughout the region, Norwood said.

The United Way of Coastal Carolina serves the four-county region of Carteret, Craven, Jones and Pamlico counties.

A key priority for the nonprofit’s future is strengthening and expanding community initiatives, including disaster relief efforts, increasing awareness and utilization of N.C. 211, continuing the growth and impact of Women United and building a stronger, more engaged board of directors to help shape the future of the organization.

“I am incredibly excited to join United Way of Coastal Carolina and become part of a community that cares deeply about creating lasting impact,” Lambert said.

“United Way has an incredible legacy and tremendous opportunity ahead. I look forward to building relationships, listening to the needs of our communities and working alongside our board, volunteers, donors and partners to strengthen programs and create meaningful change across coastal Carolina.”

The organization views Lambert’s arrival not simply as a leadership transition, but as an opportunity to reenergize its mission and deepen its role as a connector, advocate and catalyst for positive change throughout the region.

“We’re entering a new season for United Way of Coastal Carolina,” Norwood said. “There is renewed momentum, renewed vision and a shared commitment to serving our communities in impactful ways. We are excited for what the future holds under Savannah’s leadership.”
