1957-2007 Highlights
In 1957, a group of New Bern citizens came together to collectively solve community problems - forming the United Fund of New Bern.   1957 Fund Data
Mrs. Louise Whitty, who helped lead this initiative, becomes the Director and serves from 1957 to 1976.
On July 30, 1957, Founding members of the United Fund of New Bern signed the Articles of Incorporation.

August 28, 1957, the United Fund of New Bern borrowed $2,000 for expenses.
1957 Campaign Goal:  $64,948.65   Raised: $40,820.53  62.8% of Goal
1957-2007 American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts have been member agencies.
In 1961 there were 54 members on the United Fund of New Bern committees
In 1968, United Fund of New Bern reaches 100% of goal, raising $55,990.57
United Fund of New Bern changes name to United Way of Craven County on November 7, 1978.
On September 17, 1985, Irene and Alfred Moore, parents of the late Rick A. Moore, MD, presented to Zan Monroe, United Way President, a deed of gift, The Rick A. Moore Memorial Building
With Beverly Perdue and Joe Stallings at the helm of the 1985-1986 Campaign, and their crew of hundreds of volunteers, their "ship" sailed to the largest pledge total in United Way history, $257,600.
On June 30, 1993 United Way of Craven, Jones and Pamlico Counties changes name to United Way of Coastal Carolina.
1996-1997 United Way of Coastal Carolina campaign raises over $500,000.
1999 United Way of Coastal Carolina distributed over $100,000 in Hurricane Floyd Relieft Funds.
2005-2006 Campaign raises $814,890.  Largest Campaign Pledge total
